On Tuesday, July 22, 54 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7461 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country. 25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
• one person with forged documents was detected
During the profiling of passengers arriving by ferry from Sweden, border guards at the Port of Ventspils detected a Latvian citizen who presented a forged Great Britain Driving Licence to the border officials. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of the forged document.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Russia, two – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
5 citizens of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki Border Control Points and the Port of Liepaja, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed two citizens of Russia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 17 persons - six citizens of Lithuania, four - of Turkey, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of Senegal.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, two - of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of China.
