On Monday, July 21, 98 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7407 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 80 offenders at external borders and within the country. 51 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Ireland, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The man was detained and handed over to State Police officials.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Azerbaijan, as the foreigner could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to three citizens of Russia, one – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Estonia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 17 foreigners

15 citizens of Russia, one – of Nigeria and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport a Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by seven citizens of Russia and one – of Nigeria was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Russia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country for Belarus, who was not in possession of a notarized consent for the child’s departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons -  three citizens of Algeria, three - of Morocco, two – of Estonia, one – of Brazil and one of Turkey. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Latvia, three – of Germany, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Mongolia and one – of Ukraine.
