On Sunday, July 20, 61 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7309 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; and to one citizen of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 20 foreigners

18 citizens of Russia, one – of Great Britain and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport a Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by seven citizens of Russia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Russia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Russia leaving the country for Great Britain, who is prohibited from leaving the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons -  two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, two – of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one - of Mali. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Lithuania, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Latvia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Norway, one – of Poland and one – of Germany.
