On Saturday, July 19, 122 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7248 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 63 offenders at external borders and within the country. 34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Philippines and one – of Turkey, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, two – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners

12 citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus were detected at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  three citizens of Ukraine, two - of Latvia and one of Tajikistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four - of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Belgium, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Finland.
