Friday, July 17, 34 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8287 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entering the country from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan and one - of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specify in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point a minor holding dual citizenship of Latvia and Israel, who travelled to Tel Aviv accompanied by an authorized person and was not in possession of notarized consent from the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Sudan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Egypt. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Lithuania, three – of Russia, two - of Latvia, two - of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Moldova, one - of Romania and one – of Tajikistan.
