On Wednesday, July 16, 56 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7056 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 87 offenders at external borders and within the country. 49 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entered Latvia with a goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Test Certificate for the trailer, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Port of Ventspils and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document (non-biometric passport presented or passport validity period was less than 3 months); to five citizens of Russia, one – of Romania and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 29 foreigners

22 citizens of Russia, four - of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the specified duration of stay). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed  by two minor citizens was not initiated, in other cases the persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons -  five citizens of Lithuania, two - of Turkey, one – of Estonia and one of Kazakhstan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 29 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Latvia, four – of Moldova, three – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Belgium, one – of Lithuania, one – of Italy, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
