On Saturday, July 12, 45 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6796 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control, one citizen of Cameroon (female), who presented to border guards an ID Card of another person – a citizen of France, was detected. The ID Card was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one - of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document (the validity period of the presented passport is less than 3 months); while entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

 two citizens of Belarus (mother and minor daughter) and one - of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the minor person was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 persons

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two minor citizens of Latvia leaving the country for Antalya, who were not in possession of the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons -  two citizens of Lithuania and one – of Estonia. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 31 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, five – of Lithuania, three – of Kyrgyzstan, three – of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Georgia.
