On Friday, July 11, 89 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6751 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 15 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to  five citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 person

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country, who was not in possession of the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons -  seven citizens of Ukraine, one – of Estonia and one – of Uzbekistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Serbia, one – of Estonia and one – of Germany.
