On Friday, January 31, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 132 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegro Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability. The forged document was seized within the framework of the administrative procedure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Georgia, to one – of Turkey and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners have a Schengen entry ban (they are not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Ukraine and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for the United Arab Emirates, whose travel document was not valid for travelling to the United Arab Emirates, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Jordan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Serbia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – Romania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
