On Thursday, January 30, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 132 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Grebņeba, the Terehova Border Control Points and the Port of Ventspils, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia (one is a seafarer) and two – of Moldova, due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Russia, one – of Turkmenistan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Uzbekistan, four - of Belarus, three – of Serbia, two - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Italy, one – of Israel and one – of Kazakhstan.
