On Tuesday, January 20, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 26 offenders at external borders and within the country. 7 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving the country with goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards forged Latvian International Goods Vehicle and Trailer Insurance Policies was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized.

  • 1 wanted foreigner was detained

 

at the Port of Ventspils, when checking passenger lists, one citizen of Lithuania, entered the country with ferry from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Serbia and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

 

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Russia and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, three – of Serbia, two – of Moldova and one – of Lithuania.
