On Friday, January 2, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year. A total 0 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 16 offenders at external borders and within the country. 9 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

 

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Tajikistan, who presented to border guards a forged Tajikistan technical inspection certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated, the forged document was seized.

 

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay. While at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, two citizens of Germany and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

 

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Ukraine and two – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 2 citizens of Belarus were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard.
