On Friday, January 19, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit and two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Moldova was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Moldova were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Edinburg without valid travelling document (document invalid due to change of surname), as well as one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Kutaisi, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Estonia, one – of Uzbekistan and one - of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Serbia and one – of Hungary.
