On Tuesday, January 16, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Two more citizens of Moldova were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Latvia,

one – of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
