On Sunday, January 15, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country.

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one - of Moldova as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. One more citizen of Belarus and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

two citizens of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Turkmenistan were detected at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). All persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Edinburg without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – three citizens of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Mongolia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, two - of Latvia, two – of Georgia, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Italy, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
