On Sunday, January 14, officials of the State Border Guard have not detected any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay.  Two more citizens of Moldova and two - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – five citizens of Lithuania, three – of Estonia and one - of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova.
