On Friday, January 12, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel documents, to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay and one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the two citizens of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Tajikistan and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Belgium,

one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
