On Wednesday, January 1, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year. 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 26 offenders at external borders and within the country. 6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

During immigration control, one Lithuanian citizen, who presented to border guards a forged Irish driving licence, was detected on the A13 road. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, three – of Serbia, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Moldova.
