On July 26, 2010 Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard will organize annual maritime international operational tactical exercise "RONIS 2018" at Ventspils Port with the aim of strengthening the cooperation of Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard and neighbouring countries in the field of maritime border surveillance in the Baltic Sea.

The main tasks of the international maritime operational tactical exercise "RONIS 2018" will be the examination of theoretical and practical knowledge of crews of vessels. During the training, the following tasks will be carried out at different difficulty levels:

checking the readiness of marine border surveillance units;informing and involving the Baltic Sea Region countries involved in the exercise in emergency situations, as well as improving cooperation;detection of a vessel using AIS, RLS and video surveillance system;inspection of vessel;search of hidden smuggling boxes on vessel and cutter;implementation of human search and rescue measures;fire extinguishing on cutter;leakage elimination on cutter;cutter towing.

The exercise will combine the personnel and technical resources of Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard, the NAF Naval Forces Fleet, and the vessel of the Police and Border Guard Board of the Republic of Estonia.

Within the framework of the international exercise on the 27th of July from 10:00 to 14:00 the Open Door Event will be organized at Ventspils Port Promenade, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the vessels of Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard as well as with the forces and means of Estonian co-operation institutions. All interested persons will have an exclusive opportunity to take an excursion on the above decks.
