On 30 December 2025, the State Border Guard carried out a personnel rotation within the framework of the 13th operational period of Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.

Following the rotation, 63 Latvian officers, including 4 dog handlers with service dogs, will continue performing their duties in Estonia, Poland, Serbia, Romania, Albania, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovakia, Moldova, and Georgia. Their tasks include external border surveillance, the provision of patrol activities, and the collection of operational information, in close cooperation with colleagues from other European Union Member States and the competent authorities of the host countries. This rotation is the final State Border Guard personnel rotation of 2025, ensuring Latvia’s continuous contribution to Frontex-coordinated operational activities and to strengthening the security of the European Union’s external borders.

At the same time, 32 Frontex Standing Corps officers from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, France, Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Netherlands, are deployed in the structural units of the State Border Guard of Latvia responsible for border checks and border surveillance, using off-road patrol vehicles, including Frontex vehicles, as well as three Frontex Mobile Surveillance Systems.

The daily work of the State Border Guard of Latvia demonstrates Latvia’s commitment and practical support to Europe’s common security, helping to ensure order and security in those operational areas where it is most needed.
