On Saturday, February 7, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Port of Riga, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of travel document; while at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is subject to a valid ban on entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Belarus due to security reasons. Regarding the citizen of Ukraine, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Russia was detected at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation was not initiated.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons – five citizens of Estonia, three – of Lithuania, three – of India, one – of Latvia and one – of USA.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Lithuania, three - of Belarus, three – of Serbia, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
