On Thursday, February 6, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 167 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 25 offenders at external borders and within the country. 6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control a Latvian citizen entered from The Netherlands, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one - of Tajikistan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Chile was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of India and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two - of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Italy, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
