On Thursday, February 5, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 person with forged documents was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, while carrying out the profiling of vehicles and passengers of a ferry departing for Sweden, one non-citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged ID and a Driving Licence of a citizen of Bulgaria, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

 

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Oman and one – of Pakistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Egypt, who is subject to an exit ban, was detected. The person was prohibited to leave the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – two citizens of Algeria, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of USA, one – of Morocco, one – of Ukraine and one – of China.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Ukraine.
