Friday, February 20, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners  

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to seven citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to three citizens of Belarus and three – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of USA was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – six citizens of China, one – of Latvia and one – Estonia, one – of India, one – of Nigeria and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Estonia, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Ukraine.
