Thursday, February 19, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 26 offenders at external borders and within the country. 7 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners  

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one – of Moldova, as the foreigner is subject to a valid ban on entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two minor citizens of Latvia leaving the country for Egypt, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from the other parent (EU citizen) for the child to leave the country. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Estonia and one – Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Estonia, three - of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two - of Russia, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Serbia.
