Wednesday, February 18, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners  

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – nine citizens of India, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Ethiopia, one – of Cameroon and one – of Nepal.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Serbia.
