On Sunday, February 1, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 23 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including that entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners. At the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Lithuania, as the foreigner is subject to a valid ban on entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; as well as to four citizens of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Sweden and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 7 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
