On Friday, March 23 a meeting between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Guard Service at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania took place at the "Meitene - Kalvjai" Contact Point of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard. The meeting was held in accordance with the need to strengthen the counteraction and coordinate the joint efforts to reduce the cross-border crime, to maintain cooperation and share experiences with best practices in the area of operational management.

 

During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on institutions' operating principles and experience in the field of migration control, improvement of operational activities of road border checkpoints, etc. issues.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed current cooperation with the USA and prospective areas of further cooperation.

The head of the Latvian delegation at the meeting was Colonel Guntis Pujāts, Deputy Chief of the State Border Guard (on issues of operational management). Lithuanian delegation was led by Colonel Antanas Montvydas, Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Border Guard Service at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.
