On Friday the 5th of January, 2018 the State Border Guard's officials detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country.

At the "Riga" Airport Border Control Point 1 citizen of Latvia entered from Dublin, who is on the police wanted list, was detected. The man, born in 1993, was detained and handed over to the State Police officers.At the Zilupe Border Control Point 1 citizen of Russia was refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The person was returned to the exit country.At the Terehova and the "Riga" Airport Border Control Points 2 citizens of Russia and 1 citizen of Georgia, who violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen states (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the period of stay laid down in a visa), were detected. Record-keeping regarding administrative violations committed by the citizen of Georgia was not commenced, the other persons were subject to administrative liability.While carrying out immigration control measures within the country violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to 12 persons - 6 citizens of Lithuania, 4 - of Estonia and 2 - of Russia.
For violation of terms and conditions in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability by officials of the State Boarder Guard of Latvia - 5 citizens of Russia, 2 - of Belarus, 2 - of Latvia, 1 - of Lithuania and 1 - of Estonia.
