On Thursday, August 27, female officials of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard, while carrying out procedural activities and conducting a personal search, found a sharpened metal rod more than half a metre long inside the jacket of a foreign woman.
The border guards took over a Brazilian citizen (according to the person’s own statement) from State Police officials for the purpose of carrying out procedural activities. The woman did not have valid travel documents, a valid visa, or a residence permit. At the time she was taken over, the woman refused to cooperate and behaved aggressively. During the procedural activities and inspection of her belongings, she categorically refused to show the border guards the contents of her jacket pockets. The border guards repeatedly warned the woman that force would be used, but she did not respond to their lawful demands. During the search, the border guards found a 66-centimetre-long metal rod with sharpened ends on the woman, concealed inside her jacket. The object was seized.

The woman was detained in accordance with the procedure established by the Immigration Law.
