On Saturday, December 6, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11907 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

while carrying out immigration control on the A1 road in Ainaži Parish, Limbaži Municipality, one citizen of Estonia was refused entry into Latvia as the foreigner is subject to a valid entry ban to Latvia; at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ireland, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Georgia, one – of Turkey and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 non-citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – two citizens of Estonia, two – of Turkmenistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of USA and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, four – of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
