On Wednesday, December 31, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12046 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control, a citizen of Cameroon, leaving the country for German, who presented to border guards a passport of another citizen of France, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the concealment of one’s personal identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

 

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Izrael was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons - seven citizens of Latvia, one – of Somalia and one – of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Ukraine, three – of Lithuania, two - of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Romania.
