On Monday, December 29, 13 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12043 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

 

at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner is subject to a valid ban on entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; as well as to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 persons

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Lithuania departing for Egypt and one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who were subject to a valid ban on leaving the country, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia (female), who did not have a notarized consent from at least one parent for the child’s independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens of Latvia, one – of Russia and one – of Somalia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two - of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Great Britain, one – of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
