On Friday, December 29, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13863 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 29, officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 person with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, a citizen of Kazakhstan, who presented to border guards forged Kazakhstan vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Six more citizens of Russia and one - of Moldova were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kirgizstan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 foreigners – three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Estonia, one - of Albania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
