On Tuesday, December 27, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13863 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 27, officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Four more citizens of Ukraine, two - of Moldova and one – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova and one - of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Dubai, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 foreigners – one citizen of Latvia, one - of Lithuania, one – of India and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Greece, one – of Israel, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania and one – of Uzbekistan.
