On Wednesday, December 24, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12025 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Afghanistan leaving Latvia for Germany, who presented to border guards a forged passport of another citizen of Canada, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents and concealment of one’s personal identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

 

at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one - of Lithuania, due to security reasons. The persons wear returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Serbia were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document; were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - two citizens of Yemen, two – of Egypt, one - of Estonia, one – of Eritrea and one – of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Great Britain, three – of Moldova, two - of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
