On Tuesday, December 23, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12025 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 5 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

 

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, due to security reasons. The person weas returned to the countriy of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Russia and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, three - of Latvia, three – of Romania, three – of Serbia, three – of Uzbekistan, one– of Russia and one – of Kyrgyzstan.
