On Sunday, December 21, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12025 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

while carrying out immigration control, at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Somalia, who presented to border guards a forged ID Card of Swedish citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s personal identity.

  • 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen entered from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

 

at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Germany and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

 

  • conditions of residence were violated by 11 foreigners

nine citizens of Russia, one - of Azerbaijan and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by four citizens of Russia was not initiated, the other person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Turkye, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania and one of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
