On Sunday, December 14, 1 person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11933 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 23 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points and the Port of Ventspils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia (one is a seaman) and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. Regarding the seaman, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in the port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Finland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
