On October 31, the Chief of the State Border Guard, General Normunds Garbars will meet with the Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and the Chief of the Border Guard Service - Vladimir Kulishev.

 

During the meeting, the Chiefs of the Border Guards will discuss the situation at the borders of Latvia and Russia, evaluate the work of the Latvian-Russian border working group in 2018, process the results of the joint operation Kordon 2018, discuss the current cooperation and prospects of future cooperation between the both border guard authorities.

The meeting is organized in accordance with the Cooperation Plan between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation for 2018-2019.

Cooperation between the border guard authorities of both countries is based on the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Russian Federation of 26 February, 1996 on Co-operation in the Field of Border Guard Matters.
