On Monday, January 21 at the Central Board of the State Border Guard a Ceremony on delegation of authority of the post of the State Border Guard's Chief was held; during the event the former Chief of the State Border Guard General Normunds Garbars in ceremonial circumstances delegated the further management of the State Border Guard to General Guntis Pujāts.
The ceremony was attended by Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis, Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Dimitrijs Trofimovs, Heads of Interior Services and Cooperation Authorities and the State Border Guard Staff.
General Normund Garbar's last working day as Chief of the State Border Guard was January 22, 1019, due to reaching the statutory retirement age; the Government confirmed appointment of General Guntis Pujāts as Chief of the State Border Guard at the Cabinet meeting of January 15, 2019.
