On Tuesday, April 21, in the Kraslava region, State Border Guard officials detected 60 thousand cigarettes "Premier" with Belarusian excise stamps.
During the inspection of the state border, the officials of the Robežnieki Border Guarding Unit found four packages wrapped in black polyethylene film in Robežnieki Parish, near the village of Krisceļova, approximately 610 meters from the state border. Total in the packages the border guards found 60,000 "Premier" cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps.
Criminal proceedings were initiated regarding the mentioned fact pursuant to Article 190(1) of the Criminal Law (For bringing in of goods or other valuables into the customs territory of the Republic of Latvia or taking out thereof, by avoiding customs control or concealing such goods or other valuables from such control, or not declaring such goods or other valuables, or using false customs or other documents, or in any other illegal way (smuggling), if it is committed on a significant scale).
