On Friday, December 4 border guards in Daugavpils Municipality seized seven tanks with 210 liters of liquid with a diesel-specific smell and detained a Latvian citizen for illegal movement of excise goods.
During the aerial inspection of the railway section Indra - Daugavpils, officials of the Aviation Board of the State Border Guard in Naujene Parish of the Daugavpils Municipality observed fuel tanks being dumped from a freight train entering Latvia, as well as one person carrying out the collection and loading of these tanks in his own car.
Border guards detained a Latvian citizen, born in 1986, at the scene and seized seven tanks with 210 liters of diesel fuel.
The man with the car and the seized tanks were handed over to the State Police officials.
