Over the past week, border guards have identified several individuals who presented fake Covid-19 tests.
On Saturday, April 10, at the Riga Airport Control Point border guards identified one Latvian citizen travelling from Germany who presented to the border guards a fake Covid-19 test.
The person has been fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language with 670 euros.
While on Saturday officials of the Zemgale Service of the Riga Border of the State Border Guard, performing immigration control on the A7 highway in Brunava Parish, Bauska Municipality stopped an Opel Combo car, in which five Ukrainian citizens were identified. The persons presented Covid-19 tests that did not correspond to the samples available to the State Border Guard. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against persons.
Also last Tuesday and Thursday, April 6 and 8, officials of the Vidzeme Service of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard performing immigration control on the A3 highway, in Valka, stopped Peugot Partner and Volkswagen Passat cars in which one Estonian stateless person and two Ukrainian citizens were identified with forged Covid-19 tests.
All the persons have been fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language with 500 euros.
In total, the border guards have already detected 22 persons who presented fake Covid-19 tests do not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard. The total amount of penalties for these violations so far is 9 970 euros.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 123 000 persons have been checked while performing immigration control in the vicinity of the internal borders and nearly three and a half thousand protocols on violation of entry conditions have been drawn up, with a total amount of fines being imposed more than EUR 186 000.
