On Thursday, August 30, within the framework of the joint operation "Kordon" the State Border Guard officials for deliberate illegal crossing of the state border detained 6 persons in Pasiene Parish of Zilupe District.
During border inspection, the border guards of the Pasiene Border Guarding Unit detected 5 citizens of Vietnam and 1 citizen of Russia in Pasiene Parish of Zilupe District, who had illegally crossed the border between Russia and Latvia.
Offenders were returned to the officials of the competent authorities of the Russian Federation in accordance with the procedures specified in the intergovernmental agreements.
It should be noted that, this year 140 third-country nationals, who illegally crossed the state border were detained, among them 114 are Vietnamese citizens. While in 2017, 104 third-country nationals were detained for intentional crossing of the "green" border, among them the prevailing border violators (61) were Vietnamese citizens.
