At the night of June 7, a border guard of the Ventspils Board of the State Border Guard rescued a man who was drowning in the Port of Liepaja.

In the course of ship inspection in the Liepaja Port Canal, not far from the ship the border guard heard the calls for help. Using the ship's lighting equipment, the State Border Guard official carried out search activities. As a result he noted a person in the water. The border guard immediately assisted the person and helped to get on board.

After lifting up the person from the channel, the person underwent initial visual inspection during which no injuries or serious injuries were detected. The man refused the proposed medical assistance.

Due to the fact that the person was under the influence of alcohol, the man was handed over to officials of the State Police for further investigation.
