On Saturday, August 9, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8329 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country. 31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to five citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 17 foreigners
13 citizens of Russia, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by 12 citizens of Russia and one – of Azerbaijan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Yemen, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Sudan and one – of Chad.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Moldova, two – of Romania, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of Georgia, one – of Italy, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Poland and one – of Germany.
