On Friday, August 8, 75 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8298 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 person with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who presented to border guards a forged Russian Driving Licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated against a Latvian non-citizen for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Georgia, one – of Albania, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

 

six citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – two citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia, one – of Moldova and one – of China.
