Monday, August 31, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10436 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

During immigration control at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Ethiopia, who presented to border guards ID of another Swedish citizen, as well as one citizen of Egypt, who presented to border guards a forged Belgian residence permit, were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents and concealing one’s identity.

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one holder of a travel document issued under the 1951 Convention of the United Kingdom, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Belarus and two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova and one – of Turkey were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, whose travel document was not valid for travelling to Russia, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, who did not have at least one parent (a Latvian citizen, a Latvian non-citizen, a citizen of a European Union member state, a country of the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or a stateless person who has been granted stateless person status in the Republic of Latvia, a European Union member state, a country of the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) a notarized power of attorney authorizing the child’s departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Sudan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Romania and one – of Germany.
