On Saturday, August 30, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9157 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 citizens of Latvia wanted by the Police were detected
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered the country from France and one citizen of Latvia entered the country from Great Britain, who are wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one – of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Moldova, three – of Russia, two – of Germany, one – of the Czech Republic and one of Sweden – due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
three citizens of Russia, one – of Moldova and one - of Ukraine were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Russia and citizen of Ukraine was not initiated. The citizen of Moldova was subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Estonia, two – of USA, one – of Ghana, one – of India and one - of Sudan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of USA, two - of Uzbekistan, one - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Austria, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Finland, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
